Mercy achieves PORi Center of Excellence in oncology rehabilitation designation
Mercy Rehabilitation Services has been awarded the PORi Center of Excellence in Oncology Rehabilitation (PORi COE) designation at the bronze level, recognizing its exemplary commitment to comprehensive cancer rehabilitation.
This recognition signifies excellence in integrated services, streamlined processes and multidisciplinary care at Mercy’s Hall-Perrine Cancer Center – one of only five centers in Iowa to earn this designation.
The PORi COE accreditation highlights facilities that provide superior oncology rehabilitation services through cohesive teamwork, evidence-based protocols, and a patient-centered approach that enhances both patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
As part of the achievement, four Mercy therapists have completed PORi certification, demonstrating advanced expertise in cancer rehabilitation care. Those therapists are: Claire Petersen, MS, CCC-SLP; Nichole Plagge, PT; Sarah Stovie, OT; and Jessica Pearson, OT.
“We are honored to receive this national recognition,” said Nichole Plagge, clinical manager of therapies at Mercy. “This designation reflects the dedication and expertise of our oncology rehabilitation team and our ongoing mission to provide the highest-quality care to cancer patients throughout their treatment and recovery.”
