Registration opens for 2026 Especially for You® Race Against Breast Cancer
Online poll determines race T-Shirt color
Registration for the 36th annual Especially for You? (EFY) Race Against Breast Cancer opens April 1 at www.especiallyforyourace.org. This year’s race will take place on Sunday, Oct. 4.
Last year, a record-breaking 16,682 participants registered for the race, helping to fund critical screening and support services for individuals in need. Proceeds from race registrations support the Especially for You Fund, which provides financial assistance for breast care and gynecological cancer services. The fund covers breast, ovarian, uterine, cervical, vulvar and vaginal cancer care at participating local medical providers. Since its inception, the EFY Fund has helped nearly 15,300 individuals access more than 44,000 essential services.
Race registration plays a vital role in determining the level of funding available to support patients seeking financial assistance. With demand for these services continuing to rise, every registration helps expand access to life-saving care.
Adding to the excitement, this year’s race T-shirt color was selected through an online poll, with participants casting their votes for their favorite option. The winning color for 2026 is wild plum.
About Especially for You®
Mercy Medical Center and General Mills co-founded the EFY Race, which is dedicated to the memory of Sandy Knight, a Whittier resident and General Mills employee who passed away from breast cancer in July 1991. Sandy was instrumental in organizing Mercy’s Especially for You After Breast Cancer Support Group, and her vision to establish a race for breast cancer awareness and education led to the first EFY Race in 1991.
