Renee's Courageous Story
For some, adversity transforms, turning pain and loss into compassionate outreach.
Renee Smith is such a person. She could rightfully be embittered by her hardships: having a daughter diagnosed at age 5 with leukemia and enduring 2½ years of grueling treatment; having another child stillborn; and finding out she had breast cancer.
Instead Renee considers herself blessed – by her strong Christian faith and the sustaining embrace of Mercy Medical Center's breast care services at its Women's Center. The scope of its services and personalized attention offered comfort and excellent care at a time when she needed them most.
